Welcome to the Manitoba Occupational Health Nurses Interest Group website.
Manitoba’s occupational health nurses are individually and jointly dedicated to the prevention of occupational illness and injury and promotion and maintenance of the health of workers in all occupations.  Occupational health nursing is a specialty within the broader profession of nursing and requires special skills and knowledge in the fields of occupational health and safety education, counseling, environmental health, rehabilitation, human resources and ergonomics.  The Occupational Health Nurse acts as the liaison between the workplace and the community in issues related to occupational illnesses and injuries.

Only for paid members, you will be receiving the Comfort Zone news letter starting this October, 2017. We have purchased this Canadian health and safety publication for a year as part of our value of membership. It has great information, occupational health news as well as safety news and tips. We will appreciate your feedback over the next year so we know to renew come next September.
It is great to see new nurses becoming involved as we grow our organization and representation of occupational health nursing in Manitoba!

      Recent Gatherings:

             MOHNIG Annual General meeting.
         Wednesday, June 13-2018
          Noon to 4pm
A big thank you to those who attended our AGM and Dr. Kraut for his education session. It was great to see new and newly interested members! I look forward to assuming the past president position and helping to support the newly elected officers. A big thank you to Pat Owens who has been the Education Committee Chair for many years and has now stepped down. We will be confirming a new chair shortly. Lots of new developments and occupational health nurses are well suited to meet the growing challenges to support the health and prevention of illness and injury for Manitoba workplaces for when we start a new year in September. Stay tuned for the upcoming meetings! Minutes will be available shortly in the "file cabinet".
Heather Temple, MOHNIG former President
