OHN Certification

Nurses with specialized education and / or experience can achieve the designation of COHN(C) awarded by the Canadian Nurses Association.

 

Certification in occupational and environmental health nursing is highly recommended. Licensed RNs who meet the qualifications may apply to write their Occupational Health Nursing Certification national examination with the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA).

 

The application for registration of the CNA Certification Exam is the fall of each year.

Next exam date: April 21, 2012, application deadline November 18, 2011

Your initial CNA certification credential in your nursing specialty is valid for a five-year term.  Certification renewal can be obtained by continuous learning (CL) or by writing the certification exam again.                         

 

According to CNA, in July 2011, there were 23 OHNs in Manitoba

with CNA certification in occupational health nursing.
